How we deliver
We have built a package of almost 100 different workshops across 15 historical eras for the sole purpose of inspiring young people to engage with History in a meaningful, immersive way!
With over 10 years of experience in schools, we have created a range of distinct frameworks for delivering our workshops that cover all the key methods that young people learn.
A DAY WITH US
A standard Full Day with us includes 4-6 of our unique workshops usually in the following format:
We begin and end our days with a whole group session. The bulk of the day is then made up of 45min/1 hr workshops in class sized groups.
How we deliver
Active and Physical
These sessions are designed to be active from beginning to end. In these sessions we build & construct, do battle and more!
Roleplay and Drama
Our unique theatrical session formats bring out the inner actor in your children from Ancient Theatres to the heat of the Courtroom.
Compare and Contrast
Through a mixture of authentic historical artefacts and our unique in-house creations, young people are encouraged to see how the past connects with their present.
Creativity and Problem Solving
Our passion for cross-curricular life-skills is harnessed by the challenges set in these hands-on sessions where history is not the only thing they absorb!
FAQ
Bespoke workshop progammes?
- Yes, we can put together a specialized day or programme to suit your needs.
- Examples of some of the bespoke workshop programmes we have put together in the past include Movers & Shakers (influential people of the past), English Monarchs through Time, Dragons, Wizards and Myths and Time Travellers amongst others.
Necessary regulatory processes?
- All of our Facilitators are enhanced DBS checked and bring this with their Past Presents
Identification card when they attend. - We are covered by 5m of Public Liability Insurance and this alongside our Risk Assessments
for each of our workshop days is provided as documentation when you secure a booking
What spaces do you require at our school?
Our standard days usually require access to the school hall or similar large, indoor space, and the classrooms of the classes taking part in the day.
Do any of your workshops involve food?
- No, anything involving ‘food’ or ‘feasting’ in our sessions is role play and drama and no real food is involved
- One or two of our sessions do use ‘consumable’ substances like barley, wheat or similar for activities but they are not consumed as food.
How long are your workshops?
- Our workshops fall into 3 categories: Intros (20 minutes), standard workshops (45-60mins)
and finales (30-40mins) - Typically, a full day is made up of 4-5 of these: an Intro, 2-3 standard workshops, and a finale.
Do your staff come in Historical costume?
- No, our staff deliver in TPP polo shirts. However, during most of our days, they will get
dressed up at some point to assume the role of a character critical to the workshop they are
delivering. - We do this specifically so that there is no confusion that our staff are ‘actual people from the
past’ and because it is our method of delivery to shift the focus from our staff onto the
young people themselves, for whom we provide a whole host of authentic clothing and
equipment and many opportunities to dress up as people from the past.
How much do you charge?
- Our prices range widely depending on where your school is in the country so it is very difficult to give a standard price list
- However, the most common prices are around £500/day for a single class and around £750/day for 2
classes.
